WHAT IS YOUR EMOTIONAL SET POINT?

The Emotional Guidance System has a range of emotions beginning with the most positive empowering emotions to emotions of desperation and weakness. This system is designed to signal whether a thought we are holding in the moment is in harmony with our desires and greater good.

Emotions are information signaling us to pay attention. Even though we refer to emotions or feelings as being negative or positive, emotions are really just information. Emotions are a form of ongoing feedback about our general mood or in energetic terms, an indication of our vibration. Abraham-Hicks explain the emotional guidance system in their book Ask and It Is Given. The emotional scale they have created is listed below.

Emotions are part of an effective built-in human guidance system. A negative butterflyemotion lets us know that we have something to explore. When we experience emotions that do not feel good, it simply means that we are not in-line with our ‘true’ or ‘higher’ self. These emotions are located at the top of the scale. This is where we embrace basic spiritual truths such as feeling worthy, lovable and loving. When we are emotionally ‘off’, we can get back ‘in-line’ with our higher self or inner being by tapping on that emotion and/or by discovering and tapping on the stressful thoughts, limiting beliefs or stories we have going on in our mind. Our inner being thrives when we increase our vibration. So by soothing our self and moving up the emotional or vibrational scale instead of trying to eliminate or suppress the uncomfortable emotions will raise our vibration set point.

We all have an emotional or vibrational set point. As we experience different moods or feelings throughout the day, we travel up and down the emotional scale. Even though we are always moving on this scale, we have a median or central point of our daily emotional highs and lows. We can tap on feelings such as; anger, anxiety, overwhelmed, guilt, sadness, shame, fear, blame etc., as well as all of the thoughts and beliefs that accompany the negative emotions. EFT is a great tool to help improve our mood and quell negative thinking. By tapping, we can move up the vibrational scale and increase our vibration.

butterflyOur set point is also how we attract 'like' people into our lives. The close friends and love relationships in our life usually have similar vibrations to ours, or are at least with-in range of where we are. Someone who has a set point at a lower range is not a likely match for a person whose set point is at a higher range. If you find, that you are partnered with such a person it will be difficult and unpleasant to be around them. We can make progress in raising our emotional set point by simply becoming more aware of and tapping on the individual feelings or moods that we have on a daily basis and learn to shift or transform them. By noticing a negative mood or emotion and tapping on it, we can become more aware of our thoughts or beliefs that may be behind it. This is why it is important to do EFT tapping when something emotionally and/or mentally stressful comes up. By tapping on these distressing thoughts, we can then reach for better feeling thoughts and emotions and move ourselves up the scale.

To find your current emotional set point refer to the emotional scale below and find the emotions you swing up to and down to on a regular basis. Use this scale as an emotional guidance system helping you to come into alignment with your higher self. To shift your emotions and raise your vibration choose a feeling on the scale one or two higher than where you are presently. Making small shifts or moves up the scale rather than a big leap is more likely to produce lasting permanent results.

During the day, be aware of which emotion you are experiencing from the Emotional Scale. When you are experiencing positive emotions, you are helping in the co creation of your goals. When you feel a negative emotion, you are blocking yourself from your source and blocking abundance. You can shift that negative emotion to better feeling emotion on the scale.

One of the methods to move to a better feeling emotion is Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), which is a natural and effective technique to heal negative emotions. When you feel stuck with negative emotions, tapping on the meridian endings releases the negative energy and make you feel calmer.
